Kristin Lockard was a true artist—not just in what she created, but in how she lived. From a young age, her creativity radiated with a kind of magic that was impossible to miss. I’ll never forget

the day she came running in from school in the second grade, beaming with pride and excitement. Clutched in her hands was a book she had made all on her own—not for the story, but for the illustrations she had lovingly crafted over weeks. Her face lit up with pure joy as she showed me each page. It was in that moment I saw it clearly: that spark inside her, that deep love for the arts, had taken root.

Kristin never confined herself to one medium. Her creativity flowed freely and fearlessly—through drawing, painting, crafting, writing poetry, strumming the guitar, beating rhythms on the drums, and through her beautiful, soulful singing voice. She was a maker in the truest sense of the word. Whether it was a canvas or a melody, a poem or a handmade gift, her heart was always in every detail.

One of the things Kristin loved most about making art was the way it allowed her to be in her own little world, a place where her imagination could take flight. When she sat down to create, everything else faded away. She could block out the noise of the world and let whatever was moving through her mind and heart come to life through her art. It was her sanctuary, her joy, her way of expressing what words often couldn’t.

She also had a deep love for giving. Kristin poured herself into thoughtful, handmade gifts for the people she loved, always planning with care to make something that would show how deeply she understood and cherished them. It wasn’t just art—it was love, wrapped in creativity.

Kristin had a natural, gentle magnetism when it came to kids. They flocked to her—drawn by her warmth, her kindness, and the way she saw and celebrated them for exactly who they were. Whether she was painting with them, playing music, or simply listening, she made them feel safe, seen, and loved.

She would have absolutely flourished as part of Passages. Her passion, her empathy, and her boundless energy would have made her not only an artist, but a leader and a light within that community.

Kristin’s life was a beautiful mosaic of compassion, talent, and generosity. Her spirit lives on in every brushstroke, every note, every memory. She made the world brighter just by being in it.
